Self-Stir Cookware

The Idea:

By utilizing a miniature steam engine mounted on the side of the pot or pan, it could power a paddle to stir the food within. Therefore, leaving the need to physically stir your food would be a task of the past. A lot like cooking in the oven, once the food is in, it bakes. Thus giving the chef the opportunity to do more. Not stirring food can lead to a couple problems. Like unevenly cooked food, or large bubbles boil over due to the pot’s bottom being covered by the food. The energy is already there, solely used by the food. Why not use this dissipating energy to do other things as well?

*The steam engine could be timed as to stir the food every minute. Or, a brake on the pulley could adjust resistance so there would be a slow stir rotation.

Weighed Waste Wage

Weighed Waste Wage

The Idea:

Once one’s recyclables are organized and ready for weekly pick up, they are then individually weighed. A lot like receiving a money-return for bottles at a bottle depot. Weekly waste pick up could be paying those who are recycling responsibly. This would also encourage incentive for those doing it properly.

The Trucks:

Modern trucks have built-in scales that are capable of weighing not only their own tare weight, but new weight added into their containers. Accounting for recycled weight as it's added would be simple, giving the recycler accurate returns on their responsible recycling.

The Plan:

The plan is to conduct this project out of a single Vancouver based neighbourhood. Trucks are already picking up these salvageable materials. Allocating a portion of the revenue generated by the recycling process could go back to the recycler. Does the collection make enough profit to return money? If not, what in the processing method can be changed so incentive revenue is raised. As it is here in Vancouver's bottle depots, if a beverage container is under a litre, 10 cents is refunded. Over a litre is 25 cents. It is no wonder homeless dig through garbage because beverage container collecting can really add up! Plastics, metals, glass, papers and organics will be weighed and a fair return of money will be automatically deposited into the recycler's bank account.

Note:

Note that corporations should bare the responsibly of packaging their products so recycling them is efficient for the consumer. It is using numerous materials in one set of packaging which makes recycling product packaging a headache. Nonetheless, we need to recycle, reuse and reduce because that’s what we should do for our children, they are counting on us.

Stretcher Wagon

Stretcher Wagon

The Idea:

Two poles fold and also telescopically extend/retract to create a stretcher. One which pivots on a single tire, hauled by a motorcycle or e-bike. Essentially, it is a wagon designed for a critically injured patient, hauled by a motorcycle, driven by emergency medical technicians (EMT).

Large ambulances pose an issue when navigating traffic. Not only is it putting civilians at risk, EMTs are putting themselves at risk for the sake of someone’s life being at risk. A situation and method that has multiple contractions. First response is critical if not vital so motorcycles or e-bikes can maneuver around and through traffic. They can also take trails, go on sidewalks, go up and down staircases and cross parks. These EMT bikes would be dispatched in addition with an ambulance. First response can be vital and in conjunction with an ambulance, an EMT bike would get to the hurt patient first. Once the ambulance catches up with the EMT bike, a transfer could be made between the stretcher wagon and into the ambulance, if deemed necessary. For ambulances can provide equipment and a means to treat patients.
